Nantgaredig RFC received an award of £37,900 to install state of the art, energy efficient, LED floodlights on their competition pitch at Ystrad Fields.  The new lights mean the club can now be used for longer hours and on week-days.  This has significantly increased the potential for the wider community in Nantgaredig, and further afield, to benefit from this enhanced sports and training facility which also provides a social meeting place and conference/professional meeting facility with free internet-WiFi access and a commercial kitchen.  Furthermore its increased potential as a venue for events and celebrations brings with it the potential to create local jobs.

The installation of the new lights made Nantgaredig RFC the most modern facility of its kind in Wales, the only club with LED lights on its pitch. Together with the recent clubhouse extension, this has contributed massively to lifting the players’ morale and has empowered Nantgaredig to win the prestigious award of Rugby Team of the Year in Wales for 2019.
