Amount Awarded:

£15,000 total that will be an annual  grant of £1,500 for  10 years

Purpose:

A team of 17 volunteers from Brechfa Village Trust have been awarded funding to ensure their village toilets remain open for locals and visitors for the next ten years. When the Trust approached the fund the public toilets faced closure by the County Council.  The toilets are particularly important to the community life of the village as the very busy Church Hall did not have toilet facilities.  The annual £1,500 grant will go towards the maintenance of the toilets and all related costs.  They are kept clean and stocked by the team of volunteers who worked hard to ensure the toilets have remained open to the public and cleaned to an exceptionally high standard during lockdown.  The fund has also provided additional support for an energy audit, conducted by Paul Thomas of Menter Cwm Gwendraeth.

Impact:

The funding has ensured that the village toilets remain open for locals and the area’s numerous visitors. A team of 17 volunteers work hard to ensure the facilities are kept clean and well stocked.

During lockdown the toilets were kept open to the public and cleaned to an exceptional high standard by dedicated volunteers.
