Llanpumsaint Community Information Exchange (LCIE) secures support for the next 5 years

LCIE was formed in 2010 to publish a village magazine for Llanpumsaint, called Village Voice (Llais y Llan) every 2 months, and to produce and run the website www.llanpumsaint.org.uk. Village Voice is delivered to the 320 households within the Llanpumsaint Community Council area by volunteers. The magazine keeps all the residents up to date with events in the village, clubs and societies’ activities and religious events.  The website is also well used by both the community and those seeking information relating to Llanpumsaint.

Since inception, the group has been able to sustain the project with advertising from local businesses, some fundraising activities, and a grant from the Llanpumsaint Community Council. However changes in the volunteer team and the closure of the village shop (previously an outlet for collection) has resulted in additional costs.

An annual grant of £3,000 has been committed over a 5 year period to assist with printing costs, translation and to increase LCIE’s online presence.  The award will also be reviewed each year to check any opportunities for cost reduction or sharing expertise with other local newsletters. During the Covid pandemic the panel made a further award of £511.56 to enable the next two editions of the newsletter to be posted as the volunteer team were unable to deliver it by hand due to lockdown.
