Six Carmarthenshire primary schools are involved in a community project thanks to funding from RWE’s Brechfa Forest West Wind Farm

The grant is enabling the schools to work on a joint project entitled Cynefin Calon Ein Cymuned  (The Heart of Our Community). The schools involved to the north and east of Carmarthen are Ysgol Nantgaredig, Ysgol Llanllwni, Ysgol Llanpumsaint, Ysgol Peniel, Ysgol Cae’r Felin Pencader and Ysgol Abergwili.

The project allows teachers from each school to collaborate on planning a theme of work which will be taught in all classes across all of the schools in September which coincides with the new launch of the new curriculum for Wales.

Outdoor education will play a part in the collaborative scheme.

Richard Lashley, Education Suppor Advisor at Carmarthenshire Council, said: This truly is a fantastic investment in learning for the pupils in the Brechfa Forest area not just for now but for years to come and I’m looking forward to seeing the efforts of the team come to life.”
